I've just come back from the hospital with my Diagnosis of Graves Disease. I think I am mostly
angry that I have been labled as an "oversensitive" person my whole life. My feelings were
NEVER validated because I was just thought of as an over emotional mess. I was on PROZAC for
over a year. It just seems like my whole life has been consumed for no reason. I am 27 and
now I am worried about what is going to happen to my body, and my future. I've been to the
hospital so many times...it's affecting my work. Now I have to take radioactive iodine.
Though the doctors say I don't have anything to worry about that...I just don't like the sound
of it coursing through my body. I'm just very scared. Thank you for listening. Sheryl

For seven years, I have lived with Graves Disease and have always searched for more information.
There seems to be a serious shortage of knowledge around for such a serious condition, but what
always surprises me is that as a whole, we've accepted this with complacency. Finding this
site is truly "a breath of fresh air". Thank you for speaking out and good luck to you in your

This site must be thoroughtly cathartic for you. I was diagnosed with Graves 3 yrs. ago at the
age of 25. Please add a symptom: bulging eyes--it's the one I worry about the most! It's
about time for me to go back to the doctor. I was in remission for a year and a half, but my
resting heart rate of 120 beats per minute is back.

This is great site! I'm glad to hear you are doing so well. My Graves' Disease didn't show
itself until I was 8 months pregnant and then promptly went away 5 months later. Sometimes I
wish it would come back so I could lose the baby weight! Not really.

A few weeks ago I wrote complaining of having an insensitive, an non-communicative endo...
well, as of today I am delighted to say she's outta here! I really think my new doctor is a
"gem" of a guy (he listens and doesn't treat you like you're hopelessly neurotic!) So, if
anyone needs a great endo in the Portland, Oregon area..... go see James Prihoda. Thanks

Enjoyed your site very much. Was very informative. Keep up the good work! I hope the American
Foundation of Thyroid Patients site will look as nice as yours does when it is finally
finished. The web master doing the AFTP pages, is a volunteer and works on it when he has
time. Maybe he will be able to finish all of the pages soon, Kelly(the President of AFTP) and
