Comments: I was just diagnosed with Graves Disease last month. After being on an emotional roller-coaster ride I finally have an answer. I want to learn more about the disease, and hear other people's stories. I am nervous for the long journey ahead... but I am ready!

Comments: yesterday my doctor took some blood to be tested for hypothyroidism. Like you I grew up in a family that if something was wrong with you, you just lived with it. I had know that something was not right with me for about 2 years but did not want to admit it. But maybe now I will get the help I need and will stop feeling tired and irritable(along many other symptoms) all the time. I know my famil would love the old me back.

Comments: I was told in 1985 that I had Graves' Disease. I was only 13 at the time. The Doctor put me in the hospital a couple days later and put me on radioactive iodine. That brought all my levels down, but still not to the point of normal. Then they tried medication. That didn't work so in 1988 I had they removed my thyroid. Since then, I was on the hypo side. But now I'm not on any medication!!!!! That was the best day of my life. Although I don't remember alot of the problems that I had along with it, I do remember never being able to sit still. The teacher always yelled at me for moving around. I wish the best for everyone with disease. :) Brenda

Comments: Being one who has not had a very easy time with this disease, I cannot overstate how important this web site is for those seeking support. After reading numerous personal accounts, I see a common thread running through most of them - and that is "frustration". The frustration of being improperly diagnosed and after that, the added frustration of treatment and regulation. I feel very lucky in that after being so ill and after six doctors, finding an endo that not only took control but had the compassion and ability to understand. For those who experience the hopelessness that seems to accompany Graves, the most important thing I did was to find a good psychologist- do it for yourself and do it for your family- believe me,they get as frustrated with Graves as you do. I don't know if I'll ever feel 100 percent but I do feel better and think you will too. You are all in my prayers and thoughts- NEVER GIVE UP.

Comments: I am so glad to see someone else has had similar experiences. I've recently been diagnoses at age 33. Unfortunately, I am unable to take the thyroid medication. I got a big rash. Now I'm waiting to get nuked.

Comments: My name is Jason Hazen. I am the husband of a frequent visitor of your web page, Carrie Hazen. I must say that after reading your visitor's comments regarding Graves' disease, I am a bit overwhelmed. I am truly at a loss for words because I do not think I have ever fully realized what this disease has been doing to my wife physically and mentally. I have tried to understand it more but it's difficult when you aren't the person experiencing it. I love my wife with all my heart and I have all the compassion in the world for her. My heart goes out to her everyday and everyday I pray that she gets better. Sometimes, I just feel like crying because I know there is nothing I can do for her. If you haven't figured it out by now, I am a "fix-it" type of guy. If there is a problem I want it fixed right away. I can't do that with this situation, so it frustrates me and at the same time makes me feel very sad. This web page has greatly helped me in my frustration and state of sadness.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
