Comments: I have quickly glanced over your site and printed off a few pages to read later at home(at work now). I have been diagnosed (well sort of) from one end of Ontario to the other with either Graves' Disease or hypothyroidism (hey, or even a combo of both!) it's frustrating when the doctors' "think" that's what my illness is. At this moment my left eye is slightly swollen, and the pain is immense, the muscle behind the eye hurts like hell, and the side of my face (left) down to my cheekbone. Do you know where I can get more health info. on possible medications? Herbalists? Witch doctors? Anything! I will NEVER go back on cortizone again! I doesn't work anyways. If somebody can give me some insight (no pun intended) into this it would be greatly appreciated!Jackie - cthulhu@easynet.on.ca

Comments: I was diagnosed with Graves back in the late 70's. The symptoms are truly devastating. All signs listed in check list I have had or have reoccurred since treatment with radio active iodine and huge amounts of synthroid. The doctors are uneducated or ignorant to symptoms once treatment has occurred. My wish for the person suffering is to stay on top of this disease and never let the professional (doctor) tell you that your disease is under control. Press for those blood tests and have the knowledge behind you to steer the doctor in the right direction. Thanks

Comments: Just found out I have Graves disease. Although I am happy to have a diagnosis for my palpitations, hot flashes and serious bouts of profuse sweating, I can't help but feel far removed from the rest of the world. At 48, I should be enjoying life to the fullest, yet I find myself overwrought with thoughts of how this disease will affect me in the long run. Even my doctor says much is not known about the disease - really makes me feel better (not!). As sorry as I feel for others with this disease, I am so relieved to find that I am not alone.

Comments: My mother was diagnosed with Graves Disease, when they found it..it never showed in her bloodtest..it was in the Thyroid Scan.. She was so "hot" she had immediate radiation treatment. For years and years I have begged my doctors to scan me, it was never in my blood, 6 months ago they did..i was borderline. Please help make people aware that it doesn't always show in the bloodtests..sometimes the only way to detect it is through the scan.

Comments: I have been fighting the Graves Disease battle for 2 years. Until I found this sight I thought a lot of what I was feeling was in my head. I use to be active and I now I'm too tired. I use to be the most calm and level headed person now I fly off the handle if you look at me wrong. God Bless for my Fiancee(Jim)we got engaged right before I got diagnosed and he has stuck by me through it all! They still can't regulate my levels or my medication. I have been to 3 different doctors, I am so sick of Doctors! All I wish for now is to feel normal again!

Comments: Like you, I sometimes feel like an expert on Graves disease. An important part of winning a battle is getting to know as much as possible about your enemy. Graves is a well named disease that could be fatal. It's a relentless, unforgiving enemy that can, thanks to modern medecine, be defeated. Hope you are as lucky in your fight with this disease as I was with mine.

Comments: My 12 year old son has just been diagnosed with Graves Disease. He has been ill for about 2 years and it took his half sister to regonize the signs. She too has the Graves Disease. Your site was very informative and helpful while we waited for the to test results. He's on medication now and hopefully we will see some improvement. Thanks again
