Comments: Thank you!! Have gotten more info surfing your site than anywhere else. Think I am in balance now, but what do I know? I just keep taking the pills and blood tests, and hope for the best.

Comments: I have just been told that I have Graves along with Hoshimontos. My thyroid goes from Hyper to Hypo to normal. I feel that I have had this for the past 10 years. I had a test (TSI) that is to check for the thyroid stimulating immumoglobulin. Mine came out postive. Not all doctors or labs do this test. My newest doctor had this sent to the lab at Mayo in Rochester. MN as he feels that is the only lab he trusts to run this. Unsure of what the future holds, but at least now we have a starting point. Thyroid problems run in the family from my Maternial Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins to my sisters. Could not get any doctors to listen in the past. Hopefully I have found the right doctor now. Just looking for answers to my concerns. Hopefully I have helped someone.

Comments: Just read a bit, will definitely return. I have had thyroid disease since 1969- beginning after childbirth. Have been on med. since off & on. My daughter-in-law's daughter has been diagnosed with Graves'. At the Doctor's suggestion my daughter-in-law went to be checked. She will get the blood test results in 2 days.
Your sense of humor and "being there" will certainly be of help. Thank you for being Here.

Comments: I learned so much from this site. I was in a near fatal car accident in 7/97 and my former physician was treating me for menopause. We moved to NC and my new doctor found that I had Graves' disease. Was very healthy before the accident and now my body is having so much fun falling apart.

Comments: Second doctor's appointment today. I probably have Grave's disease. For the past 6-7 years I thought it was menopause. Right now all I want is to sleep through the night. In addition, today I was put on a beta blocker, propranolol 20 mg - comments??? Thanks.

Comments: I found out 2 1/2 years ago that I had this terrible disease. I thought I was going crazy. I had all the signs and my blood tests were at the levels yours were. I was told I could have at any time died. I couldn't believe it. I was sent to my general pract. and an ENT specialists and then to a therapists and on and on. I was the one who suggested the Exec. Blood panel. I couldn't begin to tell you what the next 6 months were like. I had the radioactive iodine to kill my thyroid. I had the largest amount aloud by law. I wasn't given clear info on the side effects of that. The Radiologists I used in Charlotte NC was wonderful. He explained everything I would experience. I was at the end of my rope. they say you have peaks and valleys, well my valleys were really deep. I didn't think I could take anymore. My husband saved my life, his love and understanding with me was incredible. People, especially my employer didn't have a clue as to what I was going through. I've had people I don't know to call and talk about what this has done to them and their lives. I feel that this happened to me for a reason. If God can use me to help others, then I will - I'll be happy to. My life is still up and down sometimes but I am thankful that I made it through it. I have 2 children and a husband to take care of. and to think I almost put an end to it all. I used to pray for a reason to want to make it home, hoping that God would come and take me out of my living HELL. He knew what He was doing. He had a plan. Thank you for the chance to let me tell my story. It's unbelievable what you can find out when you ask for help. thank you, Kim

Comments: Your website has been very interesting, to say the least. It is reassuring to know that I am not alone in this battle. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease about 4 years ago. I am sure that I had it for years before I realized what was going on. After my diagnosis I was encouraged by my doctor to go through radioiodine therapy, which I did. While the treatment did shrink my goiter and alleviated some of the more critical symptoms, I still suffer from chronic fatigue and muscle & joint aches. My doctor tells me (according to the blood tests) that I am now fine, although I do have a hypothyroid which I take a thyroid medication for. I wonder if anyone else has had lasting effects even after treatment. I also wonder if maybe the radioiodine therapy could have had some effect on other parts of my body. Any input from a fellow sufferer would be appreciated.

Comments: I have Graves disease..Three years ago I started having problems..I could hardly get upstairs at night ..my hair was coming out..my eyes would blur..I went from 132 to 106 in three weeks..It just kept getting worse..I couldn't think straight..On a Friday my heart beat so fast I thought I was having a heart attact..I called my Dr and when I got to his office they could not take my pulse..my heart was beating so fast..To make a long story short I ended up having the thyroid killed with radation..I still have periods of tiredness but nothing like before..I know now it is time to have a blood test done..my medicine may be too low again..It is the worst scare I have ever gone thru and my heart goes out to all with this problem..People just don't seem to realize that you are really sick..
The best to all..Donna
