Comments: Thank you for a site with insight. My doc just thinks I'm a hyper-chondriac :-) Now I know there are more of us fighting a little understood, chronic disease with very little known about it - Hey, Jerry Lewis, want to hold a GD telethon? Thanks to all who contributed - we will win!

Comments: I was diagnosed with Graves' disease in March 1995 after the birth of my first child. (I now have 4, incl. twins) I thought I was developing cancer or something at the time. What a struggle it was, what with dealing with an idiot internist before I found a heavenly endocrinologist who definitely knew Jack!! I'd love to communicate with any other fellow Graves' people. I have been "under control" and more or less in equilibrium for several years. However, I have had to have surgery for elevated eyelids after my second pregnancy and it looks like I'm in for a repeat after the recent birth of my twins. Post-partum seems to re-activate whatever latent thyroid tissue was left after the iodine treatment. Oh, well, thank God this thing can be successfully treated. later, Lesley

Comments: I was finally diagnosed with graves desease two months ago. I took the RAI TX in early Jan. My knees elbows and fingers hurt constanly but my doctor acts like joint pain isn't a symtom of the disease. I think i have experienced all that you have documented except the thoughts of suicide. I long for the moment to be hyper again, fatigue is know fun, i've aways been an active person. Tis past summer was the season of my discontent. It took the doctors a while tocome up with hyperactive thyroid. A matter of fact i had to encourage my doctor to test for thyroid. I was at the end of my rope, they had tested me for everything else. When the physicians run out of things to bill you for then they try to hand you over to the crazy unit. sure i've been depressed these past months wouldn't you. i don't know why i have low iron. Let me stick that thang up your ass. I loved your site, keep on educating the masses. I am a little long winded, i apologize. Suggestion, a larger box to write in. They tell me it will be 6months to a year before i start to feel like somebody again. What do you think? See ya

Comments: Diagnosed with Graves Disease 15 years ago. Drank radioactive iodine and subsequently put on synthroid. Was fine for 13 years until I developed the thryoid eye disease. I will be having my 5th surgery to correct double vision and bulging eyes the first week of April. I was misdiagnosed 4 years ago about my thyroid eye disease and that's why the last 18 months have been so horrible. I had a huge surgery in November 1998 which corrected 80% of my double vision. Hopefully, my surgery in April will correct me to 100%. My son took pictures of my the day before my surgery in November. My left eye is very high underneath my eyelid and my right eye is very low underneath the lower lid. Very frightening pictures. Thank you for your web site and all of it's information.
