Comments: I have just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I am going in for a thyroid uptake / scan on Monday, March 29, to see whether or not it is Graves Disease. The Endocrinologist says that she's 99% sure that I have Graves Disease. I am also very syptomatic. My fingernails are now separating from the nail beds, my neck is swollen, itchy eyes, constant feeling of being hot etc. You have created a great web site! I have found it most informative and usefull. I have printed some of the pages to go over with the specialist on Wednesday. Thank you.

Comments: This is my first visit to the website but I'll be back !! It's good to know there are others like me out there, I thought I was a freak before ! I was diagnosed with Graves disease in Jan 93 after a huge goiter appeared almost overnight and my resting heart rate hit 145 per minute. Now after surgery to remove most of my thyroid and 2 lots of RAI, I am finally Hypothyroid and taking Thyroxine daily. My general health still sucks but I'm getting there. I still don't really know much about Graves disease, I thought it was just the medical term for a dysfunctional Thyroid. your page is helping enormously. Thanks

Comments: Hi, this is my first time to your Web Site!! Great stuff! I was diagnosed with Graves Disease this January (1999). I recently received the radioiodine treatment and have no news yet on how it's working. I was diagnosed when I went to my doctor to get my migraine meds refilled. He listened to my heart and right away he ordered tests. My company changed insurance plans, so I had to change doctors. I can guarantee my old doc would have put me on anti-depression drugs, since I suffered a loss of a child. I'm really glad to find out that emotional ups and downs are part of the disease. My doc didn't tell me that, but my family thinks I'm really crabby. I have a not-so-crabby future to look forward to!! A word of advise -- if you think your doctor doesen't take you seriously, CHANGE!! It may save your life. It sure changed mine!

Comments: I was just at the Dr's office today, for reocurring shakeing, confusion, mood swings. She drew blood today, but feels very strongly that I have hyperthyroid. As I find out more, I will probably visit more regularly, I need to know how others deal with this.

Comments: Thanks for the excellent information. I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease about 18 months ago and did not really tale it seriuosly until recently when I had a major relapse and ended up in hospital. In the intervening period I sold out of a succesful business because I could not handle the stress and my partners could not handle me!; I also lost a relationship because my other half could not put up with my moods swings any longer. I now have a great doctor and am trying to find out as much as I can so I don't make the same mistakes and let this deisease take over my life. Thanks again.

Comments: I want to thank you for creating such a site, my doctors discovered on December 17, 1997 that Grave's Disease was the source of all my health problems. It started that September when I left the province to attend University. from that moment I lost so much weight (over 80 pounds in 11 weeks), and at the same time my doctors kept telling me it was cancer! Of the multiple tests that they did the one thing they never checked was my thyroid. When I finally left university and came home within two weeks my GP (since I was 3 weeks old) ordered an uptake and the results came in I had Graves' Disease. Since this discovery, it has been a never ending battle to try and get healthy. But the biggest problem of all was that of all the people I knew who had thyroid problems no one had Graves Disease and no one has realy comprended the problems I face everyday. Thank you for sating this page. It's really wonderful to know that there are others who are facing the same things as I am.
