Comments: I have graves disease and depression and just found your story and it is very similar to mine. I have never been suicidal but have been hospitalized twice now for my depression.

Comments: So nice to know that I'm not "crazy" ok, well just a little. I have just under 100% of the symptoms you described. One piece of advise for those looking for a diagnosis. If the doctor you go to, tells you that your symptoms (especially weight gain, hot flashes, etc...) go see someone else who really gives a sh..... Thank you for your work of art and dedication to this site.

Comments: Much of what I have been watching my wife go through has been mentioned in many peoples descriptions of graves disease. She has just began taking synthroid about 1 week ago. This followed the radiation ablation. At present she has little neergy and has picked up some weight. One good thing is that It was caught early. We believe the birth of our daughter began the onset of this wicked disease. It is confiding to know others are experiencing the same things as we are and that some are actually feeling better now. Don't forget about the spouses and\or friends that are helping you to cope.

Comments: WOW I am not alone. I am not nuts. I am not just looking for an excuse for weight. Sue, you helped soooo much. I am just beginng my research. What is interesting is my body is so sensitive to thyroid levels. I go baack and forth between hypo and hyper and am learning to recognize the divverences and the combinations of PMSZ , middle-age and just a normaltired or normal bad day. Is this my life? I do not want to make a career out of my thyroid yet it is impacted my life like a disibility.

Comments: Although the names and places are different, my story remains the same as yours and others with this disease. My body is not tolerating the synthroid well, and doses are still increasing bit by bit. I'm battling depression over the weight gain, anxiety which doesn't end and wondering when I'll feel better. I will say that I don't feel like I did when I was Hyperthyroid - the world wouldn't stop . Now I just have no energy.
