Comments: I also have Graves Disease. Diagnosed with a thyroid strom when i was 11weeks pregnant in nov. 1996. On PTU for 1 year, then RAI in aug of 97. Never found correct dose of Synthrid! Now in jul of 99 my goiter pops out of nowhere, except the right side is bigger and tender. Back to the doctor once again. I was lucky enough to be diagnosed early, but when does the trouble stop? I enjoyed the sight. Keep updating it!

Comments: I have been diagnosed with Graves Disease for about six months. I am 25 years old.I went to the doctor due to a large goitre. I had heat intolerence, shakey hands, I was irritable, depressed, very tired, always hungry. My muscles felt weak and I felt dizzy and my eyes looked a little starey and puffy. I had every classic sign. My pulse was 120 at rest, I had 80 % thyroxin in my blood. I had just moved to Norway and I could only speak English, I knew no one and felt very miserable and lonely, I cried very easily, which is not normally in my character. I was put on neomercozole and I began to feel better almost instantly, until my body reacted and I came out in a horrible rash. So I was left for two week to get worse again, and then put on PTU, 2 tablets in the a.m. and two in the p.m. Things were going fine I was beginning to feel better, more lively, more my happy self. I went onto the thyroxin, one 0.1 mg tablet a day. My goitre is going down very slowly, I am feeling the cold now and living in Norway this seams like a positive thing! BUT - I have just had my blood test results back, and my liver is reacting to the tablets, producing too much ALAT (?). This is quite concerning. The doctor has suggested, if the next test results do not get better then I will have to stop taking the tablets and have an operation. Has anyone had the operation who could tell me about it? Or has anyone had a similar story to mine? I am beginning to understand more about the disease, but it is difficult talking to my doctor as he is Norwegian and cannot always explain things very well, so if anyone has any advice I would be grateful to hear it.

Comments: Hi Sue, Your web page is a blessing!! I was diagnosed just 4 weeks ago, but I've been sick for 3 years. I was wondering if anyone else has had an allergic reaction to Tapazole. I've broken out in this incredible rash and my Dr. won't believe it's the medicine. Can you relate? Thanks. God bless you!! with love, Julie

Comments: This is my first visit to your site. It's nice to find places like this and to know that there are people out there who understand what's going on. I plan to spend a lot more time here. Thanks for doing this.

Comments: My husband was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease- we had gone to our family physician because my husbands left eye was considerably larger than his right eye. He is so tired all of the time and is experiencing muscle aches, has a fast heart beat. The Dr. took blood and ordered a thryoid scan with uptake. Two weeks later we went back to his office for the results and were told Graves Disease- we'll refer you to a specialist. We havent been to the specialist yet- takes several weeks to get in so I have been looking on the web for information-

Comments: I am originally from Brant, NY. (just south of Buffalo) Yesterday I got news that an old high school friend of mine was just diagnosed with Graves disease. I never even heard of it until yesterday. I found your site (and thoroughly love it) from a search to find out about the disease. I'm proud of the updates you've kept up on! I'm sure a lot of people visit every month to keep up with you! I know I feel a bond already and will be visiting periodically. Take care, and thank you for building your web page-you are a wonderful inspiration!

Comments: I was told I had graves disease at 28, they said i probably had it for years. My family doc said that I was just getting old, until I lost 70 lbs. in just 6 weeks, it was a great weight loss plan but when I really didn't care if I lived anymore I decided that being skinny wasn't anything important. My husband was the best, even through my temper tamtrums. I think he probably saved my life, if not physically at least emotionally.
