Comments: Thank heaven for your site! I've recently been diagnosed with Graves Disease. I'm taking a month off work following RAI, and am taking it one day at at time. My heart rate has been jumping to 200-250 bpm, and I have been treated by a cardiologist.... now I believe I've had Graves Disease for many years. I pray the trip from Hyper to Hypo is one of steady improvement. Thanks to all who have helped my learn about this malidy that's affected me for far too many years. CJ

Comments: I've had graves for nearly 20 years, but have a doctor that is really concerned about his patients and the internet has also been a great area to find information, even though it is limited.

Comments: I am 23 years old and I feel like eyeryone is staring at my big bulging eyes!! I can't sleep and I am always tired. I began getting ill at work and had to leave. I went to my doctor and had many blood tests. They said my thyroid levels were low and I should have it checked. Well I just graduated from college and have zero insurance...so no one wanted to help me. After a few visists to the e.r(where they put me on propranolol) and many to my poor harrassed eye doctor, I had an appointment for yet another blood test...in a month. I thought I would go insane waiting that long. Well it's been three months since my eyes started acting up and two weeks since i was put on the tapazol..the propranolol makes me sleepy but me eyes dont shut and I cant sleep...the tapazol makes me feel sick and I feel like I will NEVER get better. My poor family is sooo sick of my complaining, and so am I!! This had to end soon!!

Comments: I think it helps to read about other people who have gone through the same things that I have. Almost all people do not understand what this fatigue and strangeness is. I have Graves/Hashimotos. I dont just tell people Hashimotos because I still have some graves symptoms well after a year off of tapazole (rapis heart rate) ...Although it is not as high as it was before I went on the tapazole. But, the tapazole did its job and my thyroid #'s are lower, almost too low for a while. I am now on levothroid. I would encourage anyone thinking about radiation to really, really read about it and consider other choices. My doctor was very open to that. But I wish he had a better "bedside"...people around you have to understand you are not nuts when you have to rest because of your heart rate, or rest because you're exhausted to the bone. I would love to hear from other people who have experienced this!

Comments: I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease May 1999. I am 28 years old. I was diagnosed after seeing a Doctor for a constant pulse rate of over 115. I've had one Radioactive Iodine Treatment that has had no affect as of my results last week. I'm beginning to feel defeated, and I know this has just begun. I feel like I'm losing my mind. You're story has brought some enlightenment to me, for that I am grateful.

Comments: Just wanted you to know that although I'm just starting this devastating search for answers....I believe I'm suffering from hyperthyroidism, and have started the long process of bloodwork, etc. "They" have determined that my thyroid is enlarged......thank God. Reading your stories (and identifying totally with your symptoms page) has helped me quite a bit in the last few days since I found your site. Thank you, Sue. Best of everything to you.

Comments: My doctor just told me today that I wouldn't be crazy for the rest of my life. I first started noticing symptoms about 2 yrs ago, but had no idea what was going on. I had just been fired from a job because I simply couldn't go to sleep and when I eventually did (if I did) I couldn't wake up! I hate this disease too. I really appreciated your comments on your experiences with GD. The doctors are all very interested in me and are really enjoying talking, poking and prodding, but this is by far the most informative site I've seen yet on the issue. I can't wait to not cry myself to sleep and to wake up knowing who I am and why!
