Comments: Thank you so much for posting this page. My father just was diagnosed with graves' disease and it makes it easier for me knowing that people are out there living with it.

Comments: I also suffer with Graves Disease. I thought what I was suffering was menopause but I got so bad that I couldn't even walk up a flight of stairs. I had gained over 100 pounds because of my inactivity. I was inactive because it hurt too much and I worked full time. I finally went to the doctor and then to an endo. My white cells were too low for any radioactive treatment so I had to have surgery to remove a turmor on my right tyhroid gland. This turmor was also producing hormones. I told a friend about my thyroidism and she told her son the dr. and he said I couldn't have hpertyrodism because those patients are always so thin and he knew I gained some weight. So much for the general medical field. I had the surgery which was no problem but I can not get a handle on this disease. I can't loose the weight. The work project I was on is over and I sit at home wondering what to do. I can't get modivated. Sometimes I think my life is over. I went through meuopause at the same time. Dr. gave me paxil at my request. I could go on and on with my symptoms.

Comments: Sue, I am about to have a total thyroidectomy on 24 Feb. I'm allergic to all meds for GD and was to have RAI but discovered I was pg 2 days before. Your site has been very interesting for me - here in NZ we have a very different medical system so I've had none of the problems you and others have suffered. My probs have all been medical. Thank you for sharing and I hope your news continues to be good with regard to your new meds. After my surgery I will be taking a synthetic thyroxine, which , fingers crossed, they promise I will not be allergic to. Yours Tracey Keen

Comments: I have been dealing with Grave's disease for about 8 months now. I too battle with personality changes.....very frustrating. I can't seem to find much information on the mental affects of hyperthyriodism. But I do know that they exist, because I deal with them daily! I have nearly distroyed my relationship with my husband, I am losing my job (i think I've completed things that I haven't) I hope that one day this will all be behind me......

Comments: I think what you are doing is invaluable in helping to get information out there to the public. Too bad I couldn't find your E-Mail address (I'm an amateur at computers). I'm in the process of writing a book and would love your input... So many of these stories I read are similar to mine, yet each is so personal, as with the pain and frustration expressed. Graves has so deeply impacted my life and at the same time, has greatly shaped who I am today because of the strength I gained having "lived through it". I say that literally as I almost went into Cardiac Arrest at 24. 1992 seems like a lifetime ago, but the memories are as vivid as if I lived through it yesterday. Enjoyed leaving my mark in your guestbook, as much as I enjoyed browsing through your site. If you get a chance, and I know you're busy, I'd appreciate getting an E-Mail from you letting me know what your address is. Thanks in advance, Patti justise@alltel.net

Comments: Your website is great. My symptons weren't as bad as yours, but I did lose a pressure job in England as I couldn't cope with the stress. I took 6 months off, and am now enjoying life in Malta. I was diagnosed aug. 98 at 32 years of age. I have been taking neo-mercazole, which has kept me sane. I will stop it later this month and have a 30% chance it will stay normal. To increase my chances I have been seeing a Homeopath, who has put me on a non dairy, non fungal and no artificial red colouring diet, this was determined by some allergy tests. There are also some natural drugs which I can take if I become hyper. The natural drug is called bugglweed. I will try it as the other alternative is have part of the gland removed which I am trying to avoid for obvious reasons. I'll let you know the outcome soon.

Comments: FROM SOME OF THE EXPERIENCES I'VE READ I CAN THANK GOD FOR NOT HAVING SOME OF THE MORE SERIOUS SYMPTOMS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE INCLUDING YOURSELF. MY SYMPTOMS WERE MAINLY TREMORS WHICH I NOTICED ONE DAY IN MY LEGS BACK IN MAY 99,WHILE STANDING IN LINE AT THE POST OFFICE. I SAIS UH UH THERE'S SOMETING WRONG WITH ME. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A TEMPORARY THING THEN I DECIDED TO GO TO THE DOCTOR. I DIDN'T HAVE OTHER SYMPTOMS MANIFESTED. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH GD JAN 2000. LIKE YOU SAY MANY DOCTORS AIM FOR THE WRONG TARGET. MINE WAS GOING TO SEND ME TO A NEUROLOGIST. BUT, THE NEURO TOLD HIM TO SOME LABS AND THAT'S WHEN HE SAW THE T3/T4 IN THE CLOUDS AND SENT ME STRAIGHT TO THE ENDO. ENDO GAVE ME A BETA BLOCKER AND HORMONE CONTROLLER WHICH I FORGOT THE NAME. FOR NOW I FEEL BETTER FROM THE TREMORS AND FAST PULSE. I DON'T KNOW IF I'LL HAVE TO IODIZE MY THYROID OR NOT, I HOPE THE PILL THERAPY WILL DO A PERMANENT JOB. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING YOUR WEBPAGE I KNOW IT WILL HELP OTHER PEOPLE LIKE IT'S HELPED ME.

Comments: Hey, I am only 15 years old and I came to your site to learn more about diseases because it was a topic of mine in a class that I take. I really enjoyed the site and wish the best of luck to you. I am terribly sorry that you have to go through with some of the things you do. I can't even begin to feel what you are going through. I hope that everything in the end will be well and I think that your site is and will help many with or without the disease. My best wishes to you again. Love Always and Forever, Melanie
