Comments: I am a 27 year old mother of 3. I wasn't diagnosed with Graves and Hyperthyroidism until about 2 months after the birth of my first child. Only by pure luck had I been diagnosed. I suffered from all the symptons... bulging eyes (my contacts actually would pop out), severe trembling (sometimes couldn't stop shaking), excessive weight loss (139lbs at birth of son to 93lbs only 30 days later!), goiter (so large it pressed against my voice box and I often lost my voice completely), "white outs" (its like passing out but only for a brief few seconds where everything turns white instead of black), sweating (no amount of deoderant would help), constantly hungry ( I would wake several times a night to eat, I always felt like I was starving!), etc. etc. etc. I happened to be with a friend, dropping off her Mom's lunch at work, and by the grace of God, her employer returned from lunch and saw me, he was an Endocrynologist! He noticed my goiter immediately! Saved my life...I was deteriorting so rapidly, that I would have been dead in less than two months if I hadn't been treated! Its been 7 yrs now, and I am healthier than I have ever been, although I now fight the battle of the bulge, which isn't easy when your thyroid is controlled so closely! I would love to share my story, and talk with others. I have some important information for women who had or have Hyperthyroidism, and are considering getting pregnant!

Comments: I was diagnosed with graves disease right after the birth of my daughter in 1991. I have been to one endo who told me that every female he's ever met with thyroid disease is a bitch. I have a hard time trusting doctors because of him and others just like him. I have the bulging eyes and have gone through two surgeries to reconstruct them. It didn't help much but I had wonderful patient doctors. I feel bad because in the 10 years since the birth of my son, after being diagnosed with this disease we've had pictures made as a family only once, and it was outside so I wore my sunglasses. No one I have been to has ever given me any real information that I can read, and in book I can only find a paragraph. I am married to a wonderful man who says he loves my eyes the way they are and has always been good about helping me.

Comments: In Feb, 2000 I found out my 10 year old daughter has GD. We went to see the only endo. in MS that treats children. He told me that in the last 11 yrs. he has seen 60 children with GD. Her life is still ahead of her. How will GD effect it? I have so many question! How long will it take to get her back to normal? Her heart rate was 155 in Feb. It is down to 107 now. She not play any sports. We had to tell her classmates, because she she was crying in class one day. They were so sweet. She says I will never be like other children( she is also very nearsighted). Finding a place like yours was helpful. I would like to see stories of other children.

Comments: I think I just need to join in like every one else. I am 44 and will be 45 on the 7th ( in a few days),I found out I had Grave's desease on Feb 21st 2000 and that I had to be treated with RAI. Today I got my RAI treatment ( a pill) I will be off work till the 8th. I don't know of anyone in my brothers or sisters having Grave's and my mom and dad have passed away a while back and had never heard of it before. On and off i have been surfing the net for information on the desease. Glad I found your site , it contains true stories ,not just medical information and this is the true feeling people get!!
