Comments: Wonderfully organised and informative web site... Hipp, hipp, hurray for the warriors. Keep up the good work! I am a 24 year old battling with graves' desease and am opting for total thyroidectomy and the rebulking eye procedure. If anyone has gone through the same procedures please email me... :-) torikane@hotmail.com

Comments: Anyone who is currently ill with Graves Disease, take heart. I was untreated for 7 years and was a very sick young woman by the time I was finally diagnosed. After some 2 years on drug therapy I was found to be "in remission". That was some 12 years ago and I am still in remission. I may be one of the luckier ones but I tell you knowing what I had was what really mattered.

Comments: I had radiation 18 months ago. My Synthroid levels have been changed 6 times now, up and down and back up between .075, .088 and .1. After running at too low a level the past two months, i've developed exopthalmuas of the left eye. Has anyone else had the eye symptoms set in while hypothyroid?

Comments: I was diagnosed with Graves when I was 17. It took doctors 2 years to figure out what was wrong. I felt I should just be admitted to a mental hospital. After all that is where I felt I belonged. I am now 34 and have not had too many episodes. I had my thryoid removed at age 18, which is the best thing ever!!!! I must say it changed my life. They now say that this is "normal". My sister was just diagnosed 2 months ago with graves or possibly hashimot's. She is having a terrible time understanding this wicked disease. This week they now have diagnosed my daughter who is 9. I dread what is next to come. I just hope that we have caught it early enough for her that she will not experience the bulging eyes, anxiety attacks and the wicked mental episodes. Thanks for telling your story. Most people just do not understand, unless they have experienced this. After all most people think it is just a "thyroid problem" no big deal! Of course, live it and learn, unfortunately!

Comments: Hi: I was diagnosed with Grave's disease about 5 days ago and have been finding information about it on the internet. I was told I need to have radioactive iodine and this is very troubling to me. The most difficult problems I am having are heart palpitations, heat intolerance and itching. The itching is the most troublesome because nothing seems to help. I am curious to know if anyone else with Grave's disease has this problem (itching). Thanks Have a Great Day Bye

Comments: I loved your story. You have more of the classic symptoms that I have had since 1994. Like you I was put on the Cytomel & I have to say that it did not have the same effect on me. I quit taking it myself about a month a go. However, I was never told that this could shorten my life. It was a shock to me to hear you say this. I do not have an e-mail add. yet since I just got access about 3hrs ago. I was diagnosed in 94 @ 24yrs. I will send you my story.
