Comments: I have been having my thyroid "watched" for over a year now. The first test my TSH was .8, six months later it was .536, three months later after taking iodine supplements it was up to 1.02 and just within the last two weeks it is at .328. The doctor just ordered a different test to determine the exact level of hormone in my bloodstream. I have some symptoms mentioned in the checklist but I do not have a goiter, do not have high blood pressure...in fact its low. When I was in for my physical on the 18th of Dec it was 96/70 something. I do once in awhile experience shaking hands but only when I am tired. I am nervous about the results that I am waiting for. I am unsure as to the next step as my Doc is an GP specializing in OB/GYN. I do trust her though and she has taken the time to sit and talk with me "off the clock" so to speak. It's good to know that there is a place that I can come to "talk" and find out information. Thank You!!!!!

Comments: I have known that I have had graves diease for six years.I have felt lifeless for that long.I do not feel that anyone understands the battle for me to get up in the morning.I feel sad because I have a 5 year old daughter and I have to push myself to keep up.I chose radioactive iodine treatment for my goiter.I have wondered if it was a mistake.My health does not appear to be getting better.I have not had a day go by that I can get up and say gee,I feel good today.I want my life back.I hate that so many are suffering but I am glad to know that others can understand.

Comments: i have had graves diseae since 1991 so i know what its like . sweaing palpatations eating like theres no tomorrow and gaining no weight but losing it. i had 3/4 of my thyriod gland taken away in an operation in 1994 and im now on thyriod replacment treatment and have to have yearly blood tests to make sure im on the right doseage of thyroxine each day.

Comments: For almost a year I was having trouble sleeping, if I was lucky I would get 3-4 hours of sleep a night, I was experiencing abnormal anger and irritation, extreme agitation, I felt like I was on constant fast forward, I would start to tremble at times and I was always hot. It never occurred to me that something was wrong. I had been under a ton of stress and my life was in emotional turmoil. Then I started getting terrible hives all over my body. After months of getting rid of new products, thinking I was allergic to something, I finally went to the doctor. I told her everything that had been going on she immediately said she thought I had Graves Diease. I went to several doctors and all said the same, after many tests I was sure. Its been almost 3 years now. I had decided to try a natural method. I've been going to Bastyr for acupuncture and taking chinese herbs, watching my diet and exercising. My symptom's are gone my level's are not normal but are pretty close. So I am managing to at least control it naturally. It's been hard to deal with. I am wondering if anyone else has tried the natural solution? If so maybe we could chat. I would love to hear from other people with this condition.

Comments: I found out in Oct.00 I had Grave's Disease and my family sent me to the only endoc. in our town he up me on toprol-XL 100mg one daily and tapazole 10mg three aday plus I'm on prempro also. I have had my legs swell and pain the doctor stated it was not he's pills plus he will not talk to me but always states later. I have found out by some nurse I better get away from him or my health could get worse. I'm going to try a doctor everyone is stating will listen and talk to you please pray for me in getting appointment.

Comments: I, too, have Graves, though I was fortunate that it was diagnosed quickly (about 1 1/2 years to finally get to what was causing the problems and the doctor I eventually ended up with was terrific). This was 13 years ago and I was just married when the symptoms began. Oh, how horrible it was with the mood swings, the hair falling out, the extreme weight loss, the nervousness, the buldging eyes and, yes, the goiter that seemed to grow rapidly overnight. Radioactive iodine zapped my thyroid almost completely so now I take 2.5 mgs of Levoxal BUT I feel great! I have to have blood work bi-annually but there is life after the diagnosis. Listening to your story, I feel very fortunate that mine was resolved as quickly as it was. Best of Luck and Health to you in reaching a full recovery.......

Comments: Thanks for this site. I was dianosed with hyperthyroidism and then graves disease finally was figured out today as the cause. I've been battling what I thought was anxiety and depression along with feeling physically ill in cycles for years. It's good to know others are out there. And to finally know that I'm not crazy.
