Comments: Praise the Lord for you site. It has helped me a lot, explains all the crazy things that have been going on with me. I was told 10 days ago that I have Graves Disease. I have elected to do the radiation therapy and get rid of the darn thing. My doctor, who was new because we move back close to our home towns, was really on top of this from the first visit. I also found out I have WPW syndrome of the heart, that is why they really don't want my heart to race. Which is one of the signs that I did not have. I also gained weight not lose it, darn, cause I really could stand to lose about ?? lbs. Will let you know how it goes, after the radiation treatment. Was told will see some improvement it 4 weeks. Back to almost normal in 4 months. Will I ever be glad to find out what normal is..

Comments: I was diagnosed almost two years ago, low dose tapazole hasn't cleared it, mulling over nuking the old gland, BUT what side effects?? Doctors say none, is this true??? Runs in my family, I guess I'm lucky, caught pretty early, (I'm 45 now) but none of the more horrible sumptoms, just want to cry, kill, be rather abrupt, foul-tempered.. I have a wonderful husband, who's been very understanding, 'cept I think it was the stress of living with him that cued it up in my life!!

Comments: I was diagnosed in October 26,00, 5 days after my 29th birthday. I thought I was pregnant. I had the Radioactive Iodine therapy Dec 11. My vision is blurred but I wanted to go back to work. Here I am dealing with it and wondering what's next. I just had blood work done yesterday and I have a feeling I'm going hypo, I don't want to gain the 30 lbs I lost. I'm out of control again. Respectively, a New GD Patient Lara

Comments: I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at age 19 after a miscarraige. I was sick a year before this and a doctor told me that I had the symptoms but was to young. With treatments from another doctor, I finally got pregnant once more and had a baby girl. After the birth, I was then diagnosed with graves' disease. My daughter is now two years old and this is the hardest thing to deal with. I use to feel really good and had a lot of energy. Now it is all I can do to stand up sometimes. My bones constantly hurt and the forgetfulness makes you crazy. I am almost 24 and in my fifth year fighting this awful thing. It just seems to keep getting worse. Now, the depression is kicking in but I am fighting it. Thanks for all the information. It is nice to know that I'm not the only one!

Comments: After reading the stories, I know I am very lucky for getting diagnosed so early. My dad died recently after a lot of medical problems and ever since I have had problems with my eyes. Pressure, tired/heavy, tearing, headaches upon waking in am. Also increased pulse/bounding. I thought it was just from being emotional because of my dad's death. Luckily my doctor checked my neck and found my bloodwork to be T3 45.1, T4 15.8, free T4 7.1 and TSH nill. I don't know alot about this disease (hyperthyroidism and Graves Disease). Your website has helped but also scared me. I have not worked since my diagnosis. I hope I pick the right treatment.

Comments: I am a FF/Paramedic and just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and Graves Disease. I had a radioactive iodine uptake test today. I have not decided on the method of treatment yet. I see my doctor next week. If I have surgery to remove my thyroid gland, do I still have Graves disease forever? My endo hasn't been real informative about the future problems. He makes it sound like an easy fix. Any comments?

Comments: What a nice website! Of all the many sites on Graves' Disease I've visited, I spent the most time here. I am a 31 year old mom of two. My GD was "activated" after the birth of my second child in 1999. I waited months and months before going to the doctors. Not until my heartbeat kept me awake nights and the tremors made me spill milk all over my kids did I realize that I was really sick. That's the thing about this disease. The symptoms seem petty until they all add up. By that time you are really sick! My thyroid levels were so over the top. I opted to try the RAI. I got to spend a few days away from my kids and stresses of work and home at my Mommy's house. I didn't want to risk secreting the RAI on my kids. That was in August. Now it's January. Happy New Year! I am feeling better. My goiter is quite small now. I don't feel so crazy. I remember feeling this way. I like it and want it all back. It will take some time for my body to heal I know. My muscles and joints are still quite weak and painful. But, I vow to work on it. I vow to keep the stresses to a minimum to keep this sucker at bay. My thoughts and prayers go out to those of you who are currently in the "I fell like crap" stage and to those of you who join me in recovery! Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!
