Comments: I'm glad theres a site on Graves that shares personal stories. I was told I have Graves today, and i'm just 21. I'm really scared! I'm getting RAI soon, i hope i get better. Everyone told me that i was depressed, but i knew that i had physical problems. I can't sleep well, i shake, i'm very hungry and thirsty all the time. I think this has been going on for about a year for me.

Comments: Have had Graves for about four years. Just recently got on the net and was curious as to what I could find. Knew I wasn't alone - but didn't realize how many others there are like me! Had RAI almost immediately after Graves was confirmed, but still not on any medication. Go every four months for blood work - Dr. says my case is rare and I will eventually have to have medication. I don't have the "protruding eys" but they give me a lot of trouble. Also have trouble keeping on weight. Family or co-workers don't really understand everything I go through - so glad I found this site.

Comments: I was so glad to read the article. I feel so much better since finding out I have Graves Disease. I always knew there was something wrong with me. I was always angry with people. I could not handle stress. I would shake uncontrolable when I would get mad or irritated with people. I always thought I was lazy. I never wanted to do anything. Im so glad it's not just me, now I have something to blame. Thank you.

Comments: Sue Thank you so much for you story. It really hit home. I was diagnosed with GD a little over a year ago. I started noticing symptoms when my daughter was 6 months old, I was diagnosed 9 months later. My OB decided that the extreme tiredness was due to having a new baby and an older child. In July of 99 I developed a severe ear infection in both ears, sinus infection and strep throat. I found a new GP he asked why I was shaking, and did nothing about it. Jan 2000, I found another new Dr and she thought tiredness from Mono, of all things. Feb, I went back to her the shaking was so bad I had to quit work, I was spilling drinks and dropping trays. She asked if anyone in my family had thyroid problems and as far as knew noone had. She called me 3 weeks later with the results. GD was confirmed. The mood swings, the shaking, bouncing back and forth between hyper and hypo, the tiredness, the tired, dry itchy eyes and the bulging, is all so frustrating. My husband seems to show a little more understanding, but I have found it hard to keep friends I feel because I cant maintain eye contact with them, and the mood swings. I was 28 when I was diagnosed, and I felt I had my whole life ahead of me, now I am lucky I make it day to day. I have put my son in daycare 5 days a week and my daughter 2 days a week, just so I can have break and try to sleep. I have started a home based business, so I can at least make myself get out of the house. I enjoy it because I can work my own schedule and be my own boss and not get worried about being fired. Thank you so much for this webpage Sue. It is wonderful.
