Comments: A beginner at this. Just looking for info. I'm 22 and have been told I have hyperthyroidism, possibly Grave's as well. Still finding out, still learning. Only found out about it just recently because I want so much to serve a mission. And am feeling that because of wanting to serve I've been able to find out about this now rather than much later. Hopefully all will be able to be taken care of and can be controlled reasonably and can then go forward with my dreams. Thank you for your story. Good luck to you. Keep smiling. :)sln

Comments: Your site is very informative. Little did I know that I had many of the things you listed on your check list, for many many years. I was diagnosed in June of 2000. I was weighing about 173lbs. then and now I'm barely holding on to 133lbs. People say I look anaraxic becouse I'm also 5 feet 11 inches tall.Thank you very much for having your site. PS. Please do not E-Mail me I can not re-treiver my E-mail. Any info you send me would be greatly appreciated. Jackie

Comments: Was diagnosed with Graves Disease in February of 1996, my case was so rare and unusual that no one suspected my thyroid to be the cause. I was so hyperthyroid that after each night my muscles would all shut down and I would be nearly paralyzed for six to eight hours each day. It started with weak/painful muscles and continued to progress until I collapsed at a clients office and ended up in the hospital for a week while they ran hundreds of tests. When I started to walk after a week of unsucessful tests, they said "Well, we don't know whats wrong, but hey, your better now, time to go home." My wife was beside herself because when I was "paralyzed" she wasn't strong enough to even move me. The paid was tremendous as well. Finally after hearing one of many doctors comment about my bloodtest results from the final round at the hospital showing elevated T4 levels, I called an endocronoligist and begged for an appointment. It took another month to just get to see someone. I was finally given propylthiouracil and the recovery was underway (or so I thought) my symptoms improved and after a year of pain and paralysis, I felt like a new man, unfortunately 18 months later, it all started again, but this time I knew what it was and the Dr. (endocrinologist) was on my side and immediately recommended radioiodine treatment. The treatement took place in May of 1998 and by November of 1998 my symptoms were gone and I was feeling better than I had for years! I've been on Synthroid since then and as long as I take it every day, I'm fine.
