Comments: Hi. I love your site. I have just been diagnosed with Graves' Disease. I think I have probably had it for a few years.I have all the symtoms. Shakes, rapid heartbeat, loss of weight, anxiety, depression, irritability, and so on. My husband has decided that I just don't love him anymore! I'm glad that there has been a reason that I have been feeling this way. My doctor tested my thyroid and found that my T4free was 4.9 High and he sent me the next day for a scan. Now he wants me to see a radiologist to have the RAI. This site has really helped me learn alot about Graves' disease and to learn that I'm not alone,Thanks!!!!

Comments: I have lived with GD for so many years without any knowledge until early 2001. Imagine living with all the symptoms of GD for almost a decade! Sometimes, I really felt like a freak. I'm on carbimazole(wrong spelling?) tablets for about half a year now. Condition has improved but still the symptoms materialises on and off. Don't know when I'm able to live normal again.....

Comments: I'm a 30 y/o male and today my Dr. called me with my test results...I don't need a scan...because I have GD....but I was treated for hypo-thyroidism and given methimazole...prior to finding out and at a different place, different state. My results then was off the charts...showing hyper-thyroidism...after the 2nd or 3rd day of taking methimazole My bp was 240/89...my pulse was 139/min...I've always had perfect health. Never had to take medication...I went for help in Las Vegas for severe depression...and they kept taking blood samples from me...and the psychiatrist...Dr. Crawford told me I had hyper-thyroidism...put me on methimazole, celexa, ristoril...after 2 or 3 days...I was outside having a cigarette w/ other patients in the mental ward. my legs were shaking, arms, chest...I told a friend about it...that I wasn't going to tell the nurses about it....but he convinced me otherwise. The physician's assistant was called and she was worried about "thyroid Storm" they calmed me down. just by relaxing, sitting still. she had me seen by an endocrinologist and I was immediately taken off the synthroid...now I have to take "propranolol for my heart the rest of my life and I'm also anemic. I've given plasma for 5-6 yrs. prior always having 120/80 bp never had problems. Would synthroid be the cause of this? My brother invited me to San diego to stay w/ his family. He wants to take care of me. I can't work...I feel like such a burden. Any ideas? Thanks, Matt

Comments: I'm in the midst of testing and scans etc etc...preliminary results look like hyperthyroidism and possibly Graves'....and I am full of questions. The only reason that I had a bloodtest done was because I suspected I was hyPO, due to wt gain etc...but now look what's happened! AArgh!

Comments: My doctor is trying to convince me that I might have Graves disease. Although some of my blood values are low, many are 'within normal ranges and I am the size of a small house. I gained over 100 pounds when I stopped smoking 11 years ago and am terrified that I will gain weight if my 'problem' is corrected (and I'm still not convinced I have one). I always thought that a hyperactive thyroid meant that you were pencil thin?? I have no symptoms of hyperthyroid (more like those for hypothyroid). Reading some of the nightmares stories with meds isn't very encouraging either. It sounds like many people have a difficult time finding just the right treatments.

Comments: Recently found out that I have Graves, you website has helped me to realise that I am not alone with this illness. After reading the life stories that people have written I know that I have gotten off fairly lightly with this disease.
