Comments: I feel like I'm going crazy too!!! I'll feel great sometimes and suicidal the next. I hate it! The cost of the testing and meds make it impossible to keep up with the Graves. I too put on weight and have to just lay down and sleep no matter where I'm at. Anyone else get that? Thanks for the site!

Comments: Armed with the latest AACE guidelines, I went to the doctor, got tested and was now HYPOthyroid. I had to insist on treatment because the doctor was using the old guidelines. I made her scan the AACE and AACB info into her system so that they wouldn't neglect any other patients. It has taken months to get on the right Synthroid dosage (and a better doctor), but I'm feeling okay now...and ran my first marathon in October of this year.

Comments: Hi-- I'm in your personal stories link. Don't know if you'll remember me or not. Anyway, it has been 8 years since I was diagnosed with Graves. I went into remission (w/o RAI) and enjoyed a few years of health, lost the weight I gained from PTU, and LIVED. During this time, I was the keynote speaker at the M1 orientation at the local medical school, speaking about Graves' Disease and the need for doctors to listen and care. I became an avid runner and was doing great...until I started to get slower ...

Comments: Graves disease...the name alone can scare you. After "suffering" for years with what I called my "mystery illness", I was diagnosed with Graves. Although grateful to finally have a name to my malaise I was unprepared for the reality of this illness. I took the meds for the prescribed time 18 months and did have relief from some of the symptoms but, I am currently on disability due to the weakness that dominates my particular case. I also am a celiac...which I believe many graves victims are.(this is an...

Comments: Hi, my name is Jennifer and I can relate every inch to "My Story". Recently I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease even though they guessed I had it for many years. Being only 18 it was hard to handle. Because I had always been "a cry baby" this made it worse. Last Thurdsday I had my thyroid removed and have had a hard time coping. Millions of people have thyroid problems and half don't even know it. I want and need to start a support group in Michigan. I am in the process but can't seem to get anywhere. I...
